An alleged drunk North Houston driver crashes, kills passenger

An early Sunday morning two-car crash in Harris County resulted in a passenger's death and minor injuries for the occupants of the second vehicle. The fatal north Houston accident occurred just after midnight on Nov. 5 near the intersection of Airway Drive and Airline Drive.

A 21-year-old bicyclist is killed in a Houston hit-and-run crash

A 21-year-old Houston woman was struck and killed while riding her bicycle just before 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 7. The young woman had reportedly been riding in the outermost lane near near 6800 East Sam Houston Parkway when her bike was struck in the rear by a motorist.

Texting and driving now illegal in Texas effective Sept. 1

A new law went into effect across Texas on Friday, Sept. 1, making it illegal to text and drive. The long-anticipated law now makes it legal for motorists to text while inside their vehicles only if they're stopped in a safe place, reporting a crime or emergency or using a hands-free device.

A Harris County Deputy allegedly fails to aid car crash victims

It was announced on Wednesday, Aug. 23, that a deputy with Precinct 4 of the Harris County Sheriff's Office had been fired from his post. He stands accused of having witnessed, yet failed to report, a fatal crash the night of Saturday, Aug. 19.

The woman and man had been returning from a trip to Colorado Springs over the weekend when the big rig ran into the rear of the Ford Focus they had been riding in.

Drunk driver kills beloved coach, injures wife on the Sam Houston

A 51-year-old Houston man was charged with intoxication-related manslaughter on Monday, June 12, 2017, for causing the death of a popular track coach and severely injuring his wife. The fatal collision occurred around 1:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 10, 2017, along the Sam Houston Tollway.

The risks pedestrians at traffic-controlled intersections face

A recent study released by the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University attempts to make sense of the risk that both bicyclists and pedestrians face when it comes to how likely they are to be struck by a car. Preliminary evidence suggests that both groups are at least nine times more likely to be struck and killed at an intersection than they would be anywhere else on the road.
